Question: What makes a Fulton Armory rifle "better" than Brand A/C/S/R...?
ANSWER: If you'd seen a Fulton Armory rifle first, you'd know the answer. See above.
Question: Is Brand A/C/S/R any good?
ANSWER: By phone, fax, mail, or the web site shopping cart (use your local FFL dealer as the "ship-to" party on the "ship-to" page). When your dealer mails (preferred) or faxes his or her license copy, have your name and what you ordered included so we know who the FFL is for. No e-mailed FFLs, please.
Question: How do I order a Fulton Armory rifle?
ANSWER: Please assume we don't. There are 70,000+ license holders, whose licenses must be renewed every three years. Chances are we don't have that FFL, or in the unlikely event we do, the license is usually expired. It's much simpler just have your dealer send us a current FFL that's specifically associated with your order. That's why we request a fresh FFL with each order.
Question: Do you have (insert name here)'s FFL on file?
ANSWER: Use UPS, FedEx, the US Post Office, or any common carrier. You are permittied to ship directly do us and we are permitted to return your rifle directly to you. No FFL at your end is required. Be sure to insure for replacement value. Include your daytime phone number, name, address, and what you want done (e.g., complete Technical Inspection, barrel replacement, etc.). If paying by credit card, plese include your credit card number. There's no need to call, as we'll know what you want from the note you will have included.
Question: How do I ship my rifle to you for service?
ANSWER: Box up your complete Trigger Group; use UPS, FedEx, the US Post Office, or any common carrier. Be sure to insure for replacement value. Include your daytime phone number, name, address, and that you want your trigger group upgraded with the NM modification. If paying by credit card, please include your credit card number. Please don't call, as we'll know what you want from your note. We generally are able to return your trigger guard to you within five to ten business days.
Question: How do I ship my M1/M14/M1A® trigger group to you for the NM modification?
ANSWER: You are not at a UPS depot, you are at a UPS Store (formerly Mailboxes Plus). UPS stores are franchise operations and make their own unfortunate rules. Go to your UPS depot, or your local Post Office.
Question: When I go to UPS they tell me they won't ship firearms. What's going on??
ANSWER: Your shipper's tracking system will tell you when your rifle arrived.
Question: How do I know my rifle got to Fulton Armory?
ANSWER: We'll have the complete Technical Inspection done within two weeks, at which point we'll call you. AR, M1, M14 and M1 Carbine work can generally be completed one to four weeks after we reach you by phone to confirm the plan for your rifle. Be sure we have your daytime phone number in with the rifle!
Question: How long will it take to service my rifle?
ANSWER: With the exception of our Peerless Garands and M14s, which incorporate steel bedding, generally about a day or so. Yep, you heard that right. But, there's a catch; the order queue—backlog—may mean it takes anywhere from one to twelve weeks (depending on the platform) from the time an order enters the queue. It's simply a matter of your rifle waiting its turn.
Question: How long does it take to build a Fulton Armory Garand/Carbine/M14/FAR-15?
ANSWER: When we say two weeks, or six weeks, or eight weeks, we really, really mean it. We might get to your rifle sooner, or later; we do our best to get your rifle or rifle order through the queue efficiently (after all, that's how we get paid!) in the time we've guessed, but reality happens. The rifle(s) before yours gets its turn may be more difficult cases than anticipated, for example. So, please don't enquire before you've reached the end of the time estimate we've given you. That's our best guess, and will remain our best guess right up to the point you get the phone call announcing that your rifle is ready. Distracting the driver with, "Are we there yet?" has not been known to hasten the journey. ![]()
Question: When will my rifle be ready? How do I know you haven't forgotten about it?
ANSWER: We do not take trade-ins as we are not in the used rifle business and have no way to track curent rifle values. Why not sell your rifle via WarRiflesAuctions.com and use the proceeds to fund your new Fulton Armory rifle? Alternatively, we can use your rifle as the core of a superb Fulton Armory custom rifle built just for you!
Question: Do you take trade-ins?
ANSWER: We do not keep records of individual rifles or rifle work. You can identify a Fulton Armory rifle by the original invoice, so keep your invoice in a safe place, and store a copy in the butt trap!
Question: I want to purchase a rifle the seller says you built. Can you tell me if you built it or not?
ANSWER: The most likely cause is that your software is blocking cookies from our system. First, make please make certain that your browser is accepting cookies. Go to http://www.fulton-armory.com/BrowserConfig.htm to set your browser to be compatible with our shopping cart application. If you find that the browser is not causing your difficulty, make certain that any security software you have is set to accept cookies from fulton-armory.com, dxcart.com and IP Address 216.162.225.154. While you're at it, make certain that pop-ups are allowed on these site addresses to prevent interference with certain types of orders, e.g., Black Hils Ammunition orders.
Question: When I check the shopping cart, it's empty; I can't add anything to the shopping cart; I can't seem to add a second item to my shopping cart; what do I do?
ANSWER: If an item is on the web site, it's in stock as of that morning, so get your order in. We can't anticipate those rare occasions when the overnight orders we will fill that day exhaust the stock.
Question: Is ______________ in stock?
ANSWER: Alas, once an order is on process, we cannot change it.
Question: How do I add/change/remove an item from an order I've already placed?
ANSWER: Fulton Armory is permitted (by the US Department of State) to ship to USA addresses only.
Question: Can you ship __________ to ____________ (Canada, France, Italy, Germany, US Military APO addresses, Japan, etc.)?
ANSWER: Alas, were it only so that the only cost to ship parts was the shipping cost. It's not. When you factor in the cost of taking the order: yes, the shopping cart, credit card and shipping document processing isn't free; further, our team support their families on the income we exchange with them for their time—and it takes as much time to pick, pack and ship a .95 pin as it does a 499.95 barrel—our breakeven point for an order is, well, about a fifty-buck order. One alternative to a minimum shipping cost is a minimum order. We've gone the former route so as to allow customers who need a few small items "in a hurry" can get 'em without padding the order or waiting until their need reaches the minimum order amount. Life is tradeoffs, and this is the one we've made in what we believe to be in the better interests of the folks we serve.
Question: Why do you have a minimum shiping cost? Why don't you just put that .95 pin in an envelope and mail it out?
ANSWER: Order a new clip latch and our exclusive Heavy Duty Clip Latch spring. Include a copy of The M1 Garand Owner's Guide and The M1 Garand Complete Assembly Guide in your order as well.
Question: My clip and remaining cartridges eject from my Garand after I fire one round (or two, thre, four, five, six seven rounds. What do I do?
ANSWER: See the Fulton Armory FAQ Article, "The SLED and how to use it."
Question: Several years ago I installed a sled in my M1. Now I cannot remove it. I have seen your page on it at your site. It will not release when I pull on either of the two lips that protrude. What's up?
ANSWER: See the Fulton Armory FAQ Article, "What do I need to install a CAR Buffer Tube?"
Question: The buffer tube on the telescoping stock of the Law Enforcement model AR15 has to be torqued down when replacing it, I need a tool that I can securly place the torque wrench so I can accomplish this task. What tool do you recommend I get to take care of this?
ANSWER: Shorten the spring progressively, but no more than needed for the tip of the unconpressed ejector to be even with the lip of the bolt face.
Question: You suggest that it may be necessary to shorten my Garand's ejector spring as part of the conversion to .308 Winchester. How short should I cut it?
ANSWER: Assembly/Disassembly procedures are found in the Owner's and Assembly Guides for your rifle:
Question: How do I disassemble/assemble my Garand/Carbine/M14/M1A®/FAR-15/AR-15®?
ANSWER: Lubrication recommendations are found in the Owner's Guide for your rifle; we use, recommend and offer Tetra products:
Question: How do I lubricate my rifle? What lubricants do you recommend?
ANSWER: Troubleshooting information is found in the Owner's Guide for your rifle; if you can't find the answer there, you should send your rifle in for our exclusive Complete Technical Inspection (TI; see the Services Page for your rifle for details):
Question: My rifle is doing/not doing ________________; what's wrong?
ANSWER: We need to see your rifle for the same reason your physician needs to see you before attempting to diagnose the cause of your complaint. Experience has taught us that guessing over the phone or Internet typically results in more cost and angst than simply doing the complete Technical Inspection and solving the problem corretly the first time.
Question: Why can't I just talk to an armorer to find out what's wrong with my rifle?
ANSWER: We use, recommend and offer Black Hills ammunition for your Fulton Armory rifle, and all rifles of the M1 Garand, M14 and AR-15 type. For more detail, see the Fulton Armory FAQ Page. Check The AR-15 Complete Owner's Guide and the Fulton Armory FAQ Page for specific AR-15-type rifle twist recommendations.
Question: What ammunition do you recommend for my Garand/M14/M1A®/FAR-15/AR-15®?
ANSWER: We use, recommend and offer Wolf Polyformance ammunition for your Fulton Armory M1 Carbine, and all rifles of the M1 Carbine type.
Question: What ammunition do you recommend for my M1 Carbine?
ANSWER: For reloading recomendations, first visit Reloading for Gas Guns on the Fulton Armory FAQ Page. Then, consult the manuals supplied by the manufacturers of the powder and bullets you wish to use.
Question: What handloads do you recommend for my Garand/Carbine/M14/M1A®/FAR-15/AR-15®?
ANSWER: What minimal paper records that were kept at the unit level were destroyed at the end of WWII, and the Korean War, for that matter. The only source of serial-number related information is the Springfield Research Service, which scours the National Archives for serial number mentions in documents. Plug in your number and see if you get a hit; you probably won't, but it doesn't cost anything to check.
Question: I have M1 Garand serial number 1234567; can you tell me who used it during WWII?
ANSWER: We cannot appraise your rifle as we are not in the used rifle business and have no way to track curent rifle values. We would be pleased to perform our exclusive Complete Technical Inspection (TI) on your rifle to ensure its function and safety. See the Services page for your particular rifle platform for details.
Question: What is my rifle worth?
ANSWER: As a matter of policy, we do not discuss our vendors/contractors for competitve reasons. Further, a component may come from more than one source; alternatively, we may change sources to enhance value to you, our valued customer, or to maintain our supply to you.
Question: Who makes your barrel/stock/gizmo?
ANSWER: Fulton Armory rifle prices are kept as low as we can for all. While we appreciate the service to our Nation of our service men and women, first responders, police and so on, there's just no room in our pricing for discounts.
Question: Do you have law enforcement/military/etc. discounts?
ANSWER: Fulton Armory rifle prices are in fact "Dealer Prices," as we must ship your rifle to a dealer. For many of our products quantity pricing may be available. If you have the need for a large quantity of anything we sell, we'll cheerfully consider your request.
Question: Do you have dealer pricing?
ANSWER: Fulton Armory keeps prices low and value high by selling "direct." You can see and handle Fulton Armory rifles at our store every summer during High Power week of Camp Perry's National Matches. Sign up for the Fulton Armory Update mail list for announcements of our occasional attendance at gun shows in Maryland. WARNING! Once you handle a Fulton Armory rifle, you'll not want to go home without it! ![]()
Question: Do you have dealers? Where can I see a Fulton Armory rifle?
ANSWER: We will be pleased to replace your AR-15®/FAR-15 "pre-ban" barrel with a barrel incorporating a threaded muzzle for flash suppressors and the like. For M14-type rifles and M1A®s we have NM flash suppressors with and without bayonet lugs. Barrel threading, welding, shortening, or other "Pre/Post-Ban" or NFA compliance services are not available.
Question: How much would it be to shorten/thread/weld a muzzle brake/flash supressor to my long/unthreaded/short barrel?
ANSWER: Garands are legal everywhere (or so we believe) because the Garand does not have a "detachable high capacity feeding device." We believe Carbines to be legal in CA so long as you do not insert a magazine of more than ten rounds capacity, nor attach a folding stock or flash suppressor. M14-type rifles are legal in CA with the Smith muzzle brake we offer (and supply as standard on M14 California orders). In the end, it's up to you to determine what's legal where you live, as certain municipalities (e.g., Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio) have "assault weapon" restrictions even though there are no national or state prohibitions that apply.
Question: Is the Garand/Carbine/M14 legal in Californial?
ANSWER: See The M14 Complete Assembly Guide!
Question: How do I adapt a US-spec bolt to a Polytech/Norinco M14-type rifle?
ANSWER: For Garands and M14s/M1A®s, the answer is found in Kuhnhausens's M1 and M14 Shop Manual. For M1 Carbines, in Kuhnhuasen's M1 Carbine Shop Manual. Get your copy from us today!
Question: What thread is used on the ___________, or how wide is the ___________, or what's the service limit dimension for _____________?
ANSWER: All M14-type rifles with GI-contour barrels, including the Fulton Armory M14 and the S, Inc. M1A®/SOCOM/SOCOM II. Note that you must remove the standard operating rod guide, replacing it with the Sage operating rod guide.
Question: Is the Sage Stock System compatible with my _____________?
ANSWER: We intend "Good" to mean "good," and "Very Good" to mean "very good." For example, the "Good" bayonets may have some handle wear or blade rust. The "Very Good" bayonets are, well, very good, selected to have rust-free blades and intact handles.
Question: What's the difference between a Good M4 bayonet and an Very Good M4 bayonet?
