RE: Work you performed on my M1 Garand…

Dear Clint,

I am sure you have received many similar letters from customers in the past, please allow me to add my own praise. I received my finished Garand last Wednesday from the UPS driver with great anticipation, however when I opened the box I was not prepared for what I found inside. I actually had to go to my gun safe to retrieve my serial number to make sure this was my rifle. What I held in my hands looked like something out of a museum or right from the Springfield Armory sans the packing Cosmoline. To quote my 29 year old son serving in the Air Force, ‘It is sexy’. I had been looking forward to this for a long time so I could go out to my gun club to shoot it again. However looking at it was almost afraid to shoot it as I was afraid of damaging the beauty of it.

The photos on your website showing the transformation of a rack grade Garand do not do justice to seeing one in person. From the re-Parkerized metal parts and the new Walnut stock to the new Krieger barrel it is a work of art. I belong to the Cxxxx Gun Club in Cxxxxx Vxxxxx, CA. Last Friday morning when I showed up there to shoot on the 200 yard range the other members there to a man and one woman, all could not get enough looking, holding and eventually shooting it as I was happy to share my pride and joy with my friends and fellow members.

Now there is one thing I do wish to discuss with you on a very serious nature. The range master offered to spot for me so as to get the sights adjusted properly. I figured, rightly so, that it would take several shots to adjust the sights. Anyway I took my place on the firing line, loaded an 8 round clip with some Lake City ammo bought from CMP, inserted the loaded clip into the receiver and prepared to fire. Taking aim as an 8” bull’s-eye at 200 yards distance I really appreciated the new NM sights. I gently pulled the trigger, boy what a difference you made on that. I could not believe the feel of the trigger, fantastic job my friend. Anyway I fired the first round. John my spotter was watching to see it the shot went high, low or wide before looking with the spotting scope. He announced he didn’t see where it had gone. He wanted to have me fire a second round but another shooter who was watching with his scope said we had better take a look with our spotting scopes first. I first shot, a cold shot with unknown sights had hit at about the 10 o’clock position in the 9 ring. None of us could believe this. I fired the rest of the clip with all rounds hitting the 9 and 10 rings. You could have knocked me over with a feather.

--snip--

I shot a total of 64 rounds that day, actually I and 4 other members together shot the 64 rounds. My last 8 rounds were fired at a virgin target. When I retrieved the target and measured it I found I had shot all 8 in the 9/10 ring about the 10 o’clock position with an outside to outside measurement of 1 5/8” .

(Ed note: That's an eight round [not five!] group measuring 1.32 at 200 yards! That's .66 MOA for eight rounds!!)

That is by far the tightest group I have ever had, and this without touching the sights from how they were when I received the rifle from you. Thank you for making me the talk of my gun club.

Needless to say the other members of my club are all very impressed. There are 2 members right now that I am sure will be contacting you about working on their rifles. Everyone had already been impressed with my AR15 you built for me a couple of years ago, but this work on restoration has really impressed them beyond words.

In summary, thank you for a much better job then I ever imagined. This is a rifle I know I will treasure for a great number of years. My son also sees it in his future when I am gone and can’t wait. Guess I will have to keep an eye on him, LOL. Alas words are now failing me so all I can say again is THANK YOU.

Best regards,

Fred Xxxxx
